Ten Cool Music Links Worth a Look
10 Music Links worth Checking Out
I spend some time today on popular social bookmark websites like digg or del.icio.us and decided to share the outcome of my quick search. I gathered some links that are definitely worth your time to check out. These are not in any order.
#1 Musicovery - Music Genre Visualization Tool, there are lots of choices, you can pick moods by musical category and even years… It’s pretty slow but still worth checking out.
#2 Nutcracker Suite Played Exclusively on Bicycle Parts - this is pretty damn amazing. This San Francisco-based composer Flip Baber turned bike parts into instruments and plays the nutcracker, check it out.
#3 Top 10 YouTube Videos of All Time - Interesting to check out, 7 out of the 10 most viewed YouTube videos of all time are music related. But the most popular video of all time on YouTube (so far) has been Evolution of Dance by comedian Judson Laipply.
#4 Download music from Google - This article describes how to find and download mp3s from Google AKA Turning Google into your own free Napster. It works but only for popular music and ofcourse, it’s still illegal (if that matters)! You could also search for: “band” last modified mp3 “index of” -html -htm -php -asp
#5 Sound Sleeping - is a Drum Sleep Aid / Relaxation Tool, basically its nature sounds to promote sleep and relaxation. Pretty cool.
#6 The Strangest Music Videos Of All Time - If you like watching videos you might enjoy these… but there are many more creepy weird videos that could be added to that list.
#7: TuneGlue° | Relationship Explorer - Cool Web Application that explores the relationship between bands and artists. Type in an artist, click the circle that pops up representing that artist, expand, and tuneglue will generate a web of similar-sounding artists. Definitely not as good as pandora or last.fm but it has a sweet interface and worth a look. Also check out musicmap!
#8: let a computer sing it for you! - An application that lets you type in words and then it sings the words back to you by looking up song lyrics that match your words. It would be nice if there was more then one version of a word chosen randomly but it’s still pretty cool.
#9: Pi played on the piano - If you really have a lot of time on your hands you might enjoy this… It was created by assigning notes to the digits 0 through 9 in the constant known as pi.
#10 iConcertCal - Free iTunes plug-in that monitors your music library and generates a personalized calendar of upcoming concerts in your city. It is available for both Windows and Mac OS X and supports worldwide searches. I have not tested it but it looks worth looking into. If it sucks, check out beethere!
If you are a regular digg or del.icio.us user you have probably seen these, anyways, enjoy and comment.
