Fresh Face, Fresh Sound

Regina Spektor has gained some popularity recently, but still not as much as she’s worth. In our present-day world of music and talent-recognition, Regina deserves much more acclaim for her talent. She is a musical entity. She plays piano, guitar, percussions, and sings all at once. In her new album, Begin To Hope is really worthy of a listen.

Regina is of Russian-Jewish descent, and currently lives/performs in New York City. She has been compared to the likes of Tori Amos and Fiona Apple. But her style is truly unique. Aside from being very talented at what she does, she is creative and original. I would actually compare her to Ella Fitzgerald, Rilo Kiley, and a bit of Alanis Morisette. Pop, punk, classical, and hip-hop or electronic are her influences, but that’s just a tip of the iceberg. It doesn’t truly represent who she is or what she’s all about.

Just listen through that album and you’ll see what I mean. A fresh new face and definitely a fresh new sound. I’m seeing her live in a few weeks and am really excited cause I hear her performances are amazing.
