Expensive Concert Tickets

After releasing In Rainbows in a new and unorthodox way (free downloads), Radiohead is generating buzz. But the band that’s been around for 20 years is by no means unpopular. They are currently preparing for a tour of Europe in Spring 2008. Apparently, the tickets for these shows are going for almost $100. While that may be high by normal standards, Radiohead is no longer a small-time band. Nor is that price tag too high.
Given that people today are buying less music and attending less concerts, it’s no wonder that the band aims to go on tour and not lose money. And like the managers are claiming, you need more money to put on a quality show. I can’t wait for a U.S. tour, even if it costs a couple hundred.
